The Mellow character design project was a very quick turn-around project, developing promotional material for a local cannabis delivery service. Recruited by a fellow designer; responsibilities included designing the character “Mellow” inspired by a marshmallow, as well as additional promotional materials that incorporated the new mascot. It was vitally important to create a fun-loving mischievous vibe that could be used to further develop the fun tone of the brand.
In order to reach the final design a strict process was followed. This process began with market research that would be used to generate the first round of ideas that would eventually become Marshmellow.
After gaining insight into to current state of the market, and addressing some of the potential concerns with the concept, image generation began, creating hundreds of potential facial expressions and body styles.
Next, I found three body styles that I liked, narrowed it down to the best one and began pushing the concept further. Then, after some revisions, Mellow was implemented into the branding that was provided by the team.
